Summary

A native lightbox implementation was added in WP 6.4. The implementation also includes an "Expand on click" option for the Image block, which doesn't work with our implementation.

We can create a PoC PR, deployed in a test instance based on the requirements below. And then ask for the Design team to test it out and decide if it's good enough to replace our own implementation.

Requirements

• Completely remove our own implementation.
• Test if we can have the option enabled by default through theme.json.
• Test if the native implementation covers any other image besides the Image block.
