WordPress introduced a way to edit post type templates in 5.8. This could be interesting for us to more easily create variants for prototypes, or for site-level customization.

This article only mentions themes have to declare support for it, but likely more steps are needed to actually use it.

As I understand currently, WordPress will provide a set of default blocks (like title, author, date, tags,...). Likely we'll need to override at least some of them to have the right markup to work with our CSS. Another approach is to adjust our CSS to support the core markup.

      Questions:

      • How many changes are needed to use this feature?
      • Do we have any incompatible code?
      • How hard is it to make work with our existing styles?
