Create the design changes to implement the A/B Test on the GPI Country Selector.
Hypothesis
By moving the country bar to the footer and inserting a pop-up to call users' attention, we expect to reduce exit rates from GPI homepage, supporting users to reach their desired Greenpeace website more easily.
Alternative Design Specifications:
Here's the prototype on Figma. The main changes we want to evaluate are:
On desktop
- Add a pop-up to call users attention
- On click it smooth scrolls and opens the Country selector on the bottom
- Country list is expanded
- The pop-up is hidden
On mobile:
- Add a pop-up to call users attention
- Country Selector opens in a modal window
- The pop-up is hidden
Options for implementation:
We should consider the following options for implementing these design changes:
- Regular Test - Apply the changes in the layout by firing specific JS code via Google Optimize (as we did in the Take Action Boxout experiment)
- Optimize - Use this Optimize experiment to develop the design changes
- Cons - Would this be more complicated for developers to implement?
- Split Test - Duplicate GPI Homepage to another URL where all changes should be applied. The audience would be split evenly between the control version and the homepage variation.
- Cons - The content of the homepage can't be easily changed during the test period.
I would recommend using the regular test method because it gives the GPI Comms team more flexibility to make changes to the content of the page while the test is running (if necessary).
