      Context:

We had some requests during the Analytics Community Calls to allow NROs to customize or add more fields to the Campaign dropdown list (2019 Global Standards) that is available at the page backend. We want to give web editors this option, but at the same time, we would like to push the same standards and also avoid ending up with a huge list of campaign values.

      User stories

      • As a web editor, I want to be able to input a new value to the Campaign field that was not previously listed.
      • As a web editor, I want to have the campaign values suggested based on the correspondence of a few characters (e.g when I start typing “All” the field will suggest the value “All Eyes on the Amazon”)
      • As a data analyst, I want to suggest values to the web editors so that they can use the same global standards

      Proposed solution:

Change the input type of the “Campaign” field (page backend) from a dropdown list to an autocomplete field. This could be done through the HTML <datalist> tag* or with a autocomplete javascript.

*Note: The datalist tag is not supported in Internet Explorer 9 and earlier versions, or in Safari.
